The problem w/ poker is that the games are always best when most people want to hang out and stuff. Most people have normal 9-5 human hours, etc.

You gotta balance out your social life. Poker isn't everything.

I can go out 7 days a week if i choose to do so, and spend large amounts of money on crap when i do go out.

So yeah poker has definately destroyed my social life, its horrible.

I have a feeling many 2+2ers didn't have much of a social life before poker and now even less!

My current roommate and I met basically because we played poker, so poker has had a positive effect there socially.

I'm married so my social life was over when poker came along.

My social life hurts my poker tbh. Friends are constantly getting in the way of me wanting to put in the hours I want at poker. Eg. today - open up 9 tables to get going on a long-ass session. 5 minutes later 5 people at the door saying come out. I don't have the willpower to say 'no I'm playing poker.'

Maybe it's just that you don't like your friends all that much?

Just the opposite, actually. My social life constantly gets in the way of playing poker. I'm at the point where the only thing I enjoy about playing poker is the money.

It involves a significant amount of effort to get myself motivated enough to log on and play poker.

Poker itself hasn't, but 2+2 certainly has.
