No its more my general hope.

The Queen will most likely knock out United 93 or Little Miss Sunshine.

Letters
Dreamgirls
The Queen seem locks
Departed is most likely going to get a spot
Then the 5th would most likely go to a indie--so probably Little Miss Sunshine.

Of any film I imagine United 93 will get the snub

I don't know how these films are picked...but does the whole Boston setting thing help this movie out?

On a side note: What movies are out on video that I need to see (that are making waves?)

I have seen United 93, Illusionist, Departed, and Little Miss Sunshine.

Since I can compile a list myself, let me change the question: Which ones that ARE out on video, should I check out first?

i think the Boston thing couldn't have hurt, certainly, but i don't imagine it was much more than a bit of a tiebreaker.

on DVD (that i can think of)

49 UP
An Inconvenient Truth
Cars (winning some animation stuff)
L'Enfant was well received
The Death of Mr. Lazarescu could end up in the foreign language categories (and is quite good)
The Devil Wears Prada and World Trade Center come out Tuesday

a nice look at the process by which the New York Film Critics made their choices

Best Picture wound up being the most contentious category. Most winners are decided on the second or third ballot; a handful require four. In this case, however, the fourth ballot was a tie between UNITED 93 and THE QUEEN, thus necessitating a rare fifth and tiebreaking ballot...
