if you don't want someone being able to find out what's on your machine you should get a program called foler locker. it has a folder that is secured by a password, is hidden and is virtually impossoble to hack. also you can lock certain folders that you want to be kept private, shred
files on your computer so that they can not be restored. also you can lock out your c drive so only you have access. go get it. also, remove all the torrents off your computer so your no longer sharing stolen files, and take everything out of shared folders so its a little harder for your school to search for it.

i recently got caught by the RIAA and I used the exact same excuse that i mentioned in the thread. i have told multiple friends to use that same one as well. my case was dismissed as long as they detect no further illegal action.

the whole excuse thing is pretty irrelevant imo because the chances of this going to trial are almost zero. basically if you get sued, you lose. you're going to have to shell out for a lawyer and then settle. going to trial risking a 5+ figure judgment is idiotic when settling would likely be cheaper than attorney's trial fees anyway.

that being said, I know a bunch of people who have gotten these letters from their school and none of them have been sued.
