Default Re: Question on show both cards at showdown rule.

this question has already been answered, but just touched off a pet peeve of mine...

i HATE it when players turn over and show 1 card and wait a million years to show the 2nd one. for some reason this practice seems to be followed about 80% of the time by old-coot type players. i don't even get what purpose they're aiming at -- embarrassed to show kicker, want to prolong the moment in the spotlight? who knows, but it's really annoying and some players do it every chance they get.

I agree. The one's I've seen do it all the time are the "old coots".

I've seen just the opposite. The slowrollers I usually see are poker tough guy wannabe's that have watched too much poker smack talk on tv, and think that being a jerk is the way to be. They are usually sub-30's.

I've noticed on my most recent Vegas trip that the dealers are cutting the players a ton of slack. The crap like slowrolling, showing one card, showing pocket cards to one player only, extended cell conversations, acting out of turn, splashing the pot, etc are all tolerated by dealers without chastising. I think they are sensing that most are tourists that hardly, if ever, play in casinos.
