It sounds like you're irresponsible for not having everything in order on the school's end.

Look, don't worry about it. The person doing the checking likely won't be your interviewer, if they even check GPA at all. If they do check GPA, oh well, sucks for you, keep looking for more jobs.

Standard things covered in a workplace background check are credit history, criminal history and driving history. As other posters have pointed out, people can't get a hold of school transcripts without your permission, so don't worry about an employer getting that without asking you.

If they question you about it just say tell them you told the truth in the interview, they probably won't think twice about it and assume you either made an innocent mistake or the person interviewing you made an error. This is assuming he even wrote down your stated GPA. Making up a complex lie about a financial hold is retarded.
