I think this hand is worthy of a cap.

[/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps it is.. But I tend to take the line of waiting for a cinch against these types of players.. I'd fold PF but I'd cap that flop...

If HJ is isolating with a wide enough range like he should be, I think you have to cap it here, waiting for a cinch is going to cost you too much.

In position with AQ against a lunatic and a player that tends to get out of line and knows how to isolate? Do you think I am necessarily going to get a better situation? Should I just call and let one of the blinds/kill come in with a hand that is not as good against many players?

Default The rest of the hand (almost)

The rest of the story:

[ QUOTE ]
So maybe preflop was as easy as I thought it was.

Hero caps, Blinds & UTG fold, UM calls, Hijack calls.

Flop (14SB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UM checks, hijack checks, hero bets, UM raises, hijack 3-bets, hero caps.

[/ QUOTE ]

UM calls, hijack calls.

Turn (13BB): 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

UM checks, hijack checks, hero bets, UM calls, hijack calls.

River (16BB): K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UM checks, hijack checks, hero thinks...

I think a definate check here. I would put HJ on 10J probaly suited and maniac could be drawing with spades or any random hand. I think we get screwed and check raised on this river enough by the maniac to make missing the value bet when we are ahead breakeven. On the other hand if neither player ever ever ever check raised a river in there life. Then a value bet may be ok.

Preflop very standard 4 bet. Doing anything else would be wrong and not close.

Flop you should not be thinking about the cheapest way to get to showdown, you should be thinking about getting the most money in possible while protecting your hand. Since you have the A spades, I would just call the flop and raise the turn to get original raiser to fold hands like KJ and K10 and other assorted hands which have 5ish outs.

On the river easy check.
