These fantasy things are really fun actually. My friend grabbed Ivey #1 overall and really felt confident in him winning it and the overall bet of the pool with 27 people left. Unfortunately for him Phil Ivey decided to play like a $6 partypoker sit n go player with 3 tables left.

I think Ivey was trying to employ his usual style late in tournies. When he ran into Andy Black who 4-bet A2o all in PF, Ivey was screwed b/c his gameplan was completely wrecked with a maniac to his left.

Can't blame Ivey for reading weakness on Andrew Black when Black had A2, but Black somehow pulls the trigger with it preflop following a raise, reraise, and re-reraise.

So the idea is Ivey was a fish for going allin with JJ versus A2?

Ivey and Black are both very aggressive players, which may partly explain the action.

No. The JJ refers to when Ivey pushed over a raise from Kanter who had KK. Kanter called and held up.

btw i didn't mean to imply that ivey was a fish. to be fair, given how we saw kanter play later, although espn didn't show that whole hand i don't think, i imagine kanter's range is a lot larger than overpairs. that dude was pretty loose. so ivey probably made the right play; just unlucky that kanter had him beat that time.

Paul Darden.

I like the idea of Ram Vaswani, and I'll add more Europeans: Surinder Sunar, and (just for entertainment) the isle-of-Crete guy.
