Re: MansionPoker $60 million Winner Take All
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I think I recall reading that the pros would be Ivey, Hachem, Jen Harman and Todd Brunson. The same source said there were many applicants and the producers got to pick and choose. [/ QUOTE ] so the WSOP ME is like a MTT Satellite for this. Well, 3/4 of the buy-in anyways. [/ QUOTE ] Hachem cant afford to play in this. No way. [/ QUOTE ] Not without sponsorship/backers. |

Re: MansionPoker $60 million Winner Take All
They were initially talking about having a $10 million USD buyin tournament at Crown for Aussie Millions 2007. Seems like this idea was borrowed/usurped for Mansion Poker, which might have been a contributing factor to Crown holding that $100K sit and go at Aussie Millions this year. Hachem was confirmed for the prospective Crown $10 million event, presumably mainly because he's from Melbourne and plays at Crown regularly; he would have definitely been sponsored/backed as promotion. Whereas in .au Hachem is *the* face of the poker boom, in the US he's just another guy who randomly won the ME for one year and doesn't have anywhere near $10 million, so I doubt he would actually end up on Mansion Poker.

Re: MansionPoker $60 million Winner Take All
I actually worry it's too much for TV. This one tournament could easily remove the adrenaline factor (much in the same way increased money on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, $64000 Question, 21 etc did so) of every other poker show for Mr. and Mrs. America. For them, seeing the money fly across the screen is what draws them to poker, and $10K a player doesn't look like much after you've watched $10M stacks go at it.

Re: MansionPoker $60 million Winner Take All
interesting point, I was thinking that too.
A million dollar buy in would be big enough. Hell, could go as low as the $50,000 mixed event at the WSOP this year, but the overall prize pool may not be that big. OK, $250,000 buy in, that would be about right. Probably could get a decent field using qualifiers, as long as it wasn't winner take all. Jeez think about it, $25K single table satellites? Maybe $5K MTTs with a seat for every 50 entrys? PP could create step tournies, that would make a lot of players. |
