OK. Here's the thing about button motion and blinds. There are two ways of doing it. Both are common, but since they're incompatible, every individual site must use one or the other.

1) Having the blinds always go in order (aka "Dead Button") requires that each player in order, must pay a BB and a SB on successive hands. Blinds are only skipped if the player who is supposed to be paying the SB in the current hand busted out in the last one. That would be "There is no SB as the BB in the previous hand has left the table," or something like that. This rule doesn't allow players to skip blinds but does allow them, in effect, to have the button on successive hands.

2) Having the button always go in order (aka "Forward-Moving Button) assures table position is rotated in the correct direction every hand. In order to do this, it becomes possible for an UTG player to skip his BB if the SB busts out. The BB skips his SB and gets the Button. I believe this is the system Party uses.

I think this is correct. Fix it if it's not.

that sounds right Slim - and Pokerstars does the follow the button one...

which is ...well...seems wrong to me anyways...

you should never be able to skip your BB. ... especially in these shallowstacked SNGs.

I don't know, this isn't that odd though. I have seen on party poker many many many times, a player will raise from 80, then get reraised 40 more. This shouldn't be possible being that a raise has to be the same amount as the last raise correct? If I raise 20 you have to raise atleast 20, you can't raise 10 unless you are all-in.

prob raised FROM 40 TO 80 = raise of 40. dude can be reraised 40 more to 120.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, raise 80 not to 80.EX. the BB is 20 I raise to 100, next guy raises to 140.

This IS the method party uses. It's fairly common that I will be UTG with SB eliminated previous hand. I can be more chosey about which hands to push, knowing I'm not paying the BB next hand, just the SB.

As for the original question. There have been times when I have not been able to re-raise in spots like this on party, and times I have. Strange. Maybe it has something to do with fact the re-raiser is in the BB?
