3-bed townhouse, in the price range, and it's walking distance to a commuter rail. Walking distance to a commuter rail is a unique compromise. It'd be about $10/week extra for my "free" pass, but this appartment is nice to the point where I'd be willing to make that sacrifice.

How is the norwood area in general? If it's like decent I'd be happy with this. A 40 minute commute into Boston isn't bad, with no pre-drive. Certainly a compromise, but one I'd be willing to make for what looks to be a significantly better living arrangement.

FWIW south station is 3-4 blocks from downtown crossing (orange line) and park street (green line) so if you're commuting don't restrict yourself based on that

don't take the commuter rail because you'll pretty much want to kill yourself waking up every day and riding 3 different trains

try the fenway area (green line), davis square (red line), and give craigslist a shot, there are alot of boston apartments posted there, i live in a high rise 5 minutes from the prudential and the costs are about in line with what you're willing to pay for a 2 br 2 bath

You can do better than Norwood with that price range.

Keep looking.

27, there's transportation right there, and it's 3 bedroom. I honestly don't think I can do that much better.

I'm willing to pay a premium to not have to drive a car to get to work.

if you want anything close to a city/urban life, then don't move to norwood. if you don't care about going out in the city or having city conveniences, then move to Norwood.

also, you'll need a car more in Norwood than if you live in the city

I prefer suburban life, and I don't mind owning a car, I just mind driving a car to work.

Does the Hong Kong still exist in Harvard Square? I heard that after they closed The Tasty that the franchises started moving in.

There actually isn't much to Porter.
Central is the most "urban" of the 3. and the cheapest.
