Re: general AK 3bet or call question
I like three-betting here also, partly because we have a good hand, and partly because conventional wisdom often says a three-bet always means AA or KK. If he's that tight, he may give up 10 10 and fold preflop, or at the very least call and fold to a c'bet on a dry board.
Also, as Kos13 said, you don't want 98s on the button to come along for the ride. |

Re: general AK 3bet or call question
Dont get to caught up in the 5% PFR range, i just made it up, assume i'm correct.
For all those that 3-bet this all day how do the variables mmentioned change your answer? DO you still 3-bet if: -his PFR is 3%; or -effective stack sizes are now 200BB; or -we are in the SB and oop; or -We know for a fact that he is a very very good player, even though his stats suggest otherwise. |

Re: general AK 3bet or call question
Our 3b should be even scarier to him 200bb deep.

Re: general AK 3bet or call question
If his PFR is 3 or less I like a call. Most of the money we are making here is just from picking up his cbet when we hit the flop.
OOP I will 3bet less but I think I'm kind of a pussy OOP. If we 3bet we are leading the flop almost no matter what, right? This depends a lot on whether I think individual player is likely to give up or not. Against a good player I am also less likely to put money in before I have a made hand, so I'm less apt to 3bet. |
