From his description, he must have been playing on a far different version then the ones at 4 Winds, which is my only experience with them. For instance, the hole cards are in the center bottom of your screen and I find their size a lot easier to read than bridge size ones used by many casinos. And they are exposed by "cupping" them, not
touching any button.

None but the most ham fisted had the touch screen difficulties, and usually after a gentle reminder they weren't hitting return on their old Remington, the problem resolved. 4W is fortunate to have an extremely attentive staff (for now) which keeps a close eye on new players to walk them through such problems, as well. I suspect other pokerpro table set ups have not had the attention paid them that has occured here, with the on site poker tek representative available.

Each player has a lighted bar across the front of his monitor to indicate when the action is on him for other players to see, as well as a highlighted player name on the individual players screen, not an arrow. Still, there have been lags while deciding whether a person was thinking or sleeping. The version used here allows 60 seconds to act, not 30, so the delay could potentialy be even longer. This does require some interaction on occasion from the other players, which I can see being a pain in the ass if it occured frequently. So far it hasn't been a big problem, but I suspect it's because the tables are new and still fairly novel. Give it a few weeks and I'll probably be falling asleep and missing my turn, too. We'll see. I do wish they would add a little bell sound, though, when it was a players turn to act. There was an old gentleman at my table Sunday night who brought the game to a standstill with a combination of touch screen difficulties and missing his turn to act. It was excrutiating.

I should add I'm actually quite impressed with the responsivness of these touch screens. As mentioned, it is actually easier to tap your selections with the corner of your player card. A guy I was playing with early Thursday who stayed at a Holiday Inn Express explained anything covering the screen will affect the reponse of the touch screen. Many players, myself included, were covering some portion of the screen with their forearm when acting, which caused problems, especially with the "back" button. Once he explained that and I was a little more careful to touch the screen without covering a big portion of it, it worked swimmingly.

I still have reservations, although not nearly as many since actually using them. I, too, would much prefer a live dealer, if they didn't cost so much and make mistakes.

A good question, and one I'm waiting to see what the answer is, as well. What happens with a live dealer? In reality, not in perfect fantasy poker world.

However, whether playing live or on these e-tables, I think it's in a players best interest to watch out for these things himself. I'm sure not counting on the dealer to do it. Especially if it's regulars that he sees every day.

Im really not a fan of these tables. I have played some 1/2 and a few sessions of 2/5 with a bunch of blue chip and trump[ regulars and the consensus I got was that they would like to at least have the option to play on live dealer tables. i am hoping they go down hill and return ti dealers, i would also like to see the Mtt structures straightened out. that being said for "fun" poker there not bad.

Computer-Etables are here to stay, like it or not. It will a gradual process, but the end is in sight for "live" poker dealers. Players don't run the joints. Corporate decisions are made by executive officers and stock holders.

Interestingly, though, if all the players decide that they can stay home and play computer poker without driving to the cardroom, it doesn't much matter what Corporate decided. So I guess the customers are in charge after all! Just like in every other business, large and small, throughout the universe.

Imagine that!

That said, I think the e-tables have a very real but limited application: for load balancing at times when it's difficult to tell whether the house needs more dealers or not. Now you can schedule to your average load, and if demand exceeds expectations, instead of a lot of disgruntled players standing around, you can have them go play online poker until a real table opens up.

I just got back from overplaying AQ on an A56 flop to donk off most of my chips in the $50 NL 2 pm. Chip leader to railbird in 2 hands. Man, I suck.

19 entrants. 3k in starting chips, 15 minute blinds, I think we started at 25/50, then 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, etc.

I confirmed with a floor person working today that they do, in fact, allow someone to go back to their original buy in if he wishes at a cash table if they move the player. I voiced my objection to this plainly, and plan on doing so every time I go.

I don't believe this is normal practice, but I've been moved so rarely I don't really recall what happened with my stack the few times I've been moved. I'm sure I didn't pocket any of it, though. Am I wrong here? Is there a standard amongst poker rooms?
