wtf is with this advice?

The 2 pair guy should call this hand everytime at every level without an insane read on the villain.

The pusher in the above hand is not representing a good hand. He's saying that he wants to end that hand now because he has a K, the As, or crap and hes the bluffing king of the world.

Also, at the $5s, you should not be trying to represent any hand at all. Play your cards. People will not care that you are representing AA on a J53 flop. They will still call with 95o because you always have AK.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think he has at least a pair and a flush draw, and a vast majority of the time, not more than that.

bottom line, two-pair guys is most likely WAY WAY ahead at this point and really should not hesistate to call. pusher is not betting for value.

Or he also made two pair himself and doesn't want to see the river. Not likely but...

Anyway, my thoughts are that with the chip lead, and so many bb's left, Hero can wait for better spots.

If we put villian on a spade we are hoping for no river spades, if we put him on a K we are hoping the board doesn't pair, or that he just didn't pair his kicker on the turn, or that he doesn't pair his kicker on the river.

If we are ahead here, I don't think we are that far ahead.

I suppose even if we lose this hand we are still in the running. <shrugs>

For arguments sake, i will show you the numbers.

Opponent has Kx, no spade:

Board: Ks 4s 8s 3c
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 81.8182 % 81.82% 00.00% { 4c3d }
Hand 2: 18.1818 % 18.18% 00.00% { Kc7d }

Opponent has Asx, no pair:

Board: Ks 4s 8s 3c
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 75.0000 % 75.00% 00.00% { 4c3d }
Hand 2: 25.0000 % 25.00% 00.00% { As2d }

Opponent has Kx, with a spade:

Board: Ks 4s 8s 3c
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 63.6364 % 63.64% 00.00% { 4c3d }
Hand 2: 36.3636 % 36.36% 00.00% { Kc5s }

Opponent has Asx, with a pair

Board: Ks 4s 8s 3c
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 63.6364 % 63.64% 00.00% { 4c3d }
Hand 2: 36.3636 % 36.36% 00.00% { As8d }

Opponent has an openended straight and flush draw:

Board: Ks 4s 8s 3c
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 68.1818 % 68.18% 00.00% { 4c3d }
Hand 2: 31.8182 % 31.82% 00.00% { 6h5s }

In conclusion, we are far ahead in every likely situation here. Not calling is pretty bad. You're not gonna find a better spot.

Admittedly those numbers look good, but I still don't like it. I guess I'm just hard headed and stubborn.

Interesting discussion, thanks.

Villian (me) showed JJ.

I hate the way I played the hand. The lack of pf raise is actually excusable, I think -- he'd raised every SB limp I tried up until then, so I thought he'd raise with just about any two and I could push then. Turned out to be wrong, of course.

The flop scared me enough that I checked it -- I'm way to afraid of the check-raise play here. I was planning to push on any turn if checked to again and it burned me.

The interesting part was that villian took a long time to make the call -- even called time, if I remember. Granted he could have just been grabbing a beer or yelling at the kids, but by the time he called I thought I was going to beat whatever he held. The fact that he seemed to have to think about made me wonder how much credit he was giving me for what I thought was a very poorly played hand.

Thanks for the feedback.

Given that the villian here is me, I can confirm he is a donk.

Still, he's a donk that's at least trying to look like he has a hand. Do you believe him?

What part of shoving into a relatively small pot makes it look like you have a hand?

Hence the "donk" part.

I think I looked like a guy who had some sort of hand, was afraid of the flush draw, and desperately wanted to end the hand right there. Which is what I was, as it turns out.

2 pair plays pretty well against the range of hands included in "some sort of a hand"

don't you think?
