Obviously it's all-in or fold here, and fold is the correct play. You have absolutely nothing beat but a bluff. The all-in would be $140 to win $266, and you probably have outs, so for a call to be correct, Villian must be bluffing about 15% of the time, which I think is VERY unlikely given his play.

hero calls $35 turn : A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] for 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($126) board hero has $140 left, villain covers. hero checks, villain bets $105 hero folds, correct? is there anything along the way that would lead us to believe villain is on air? [/ QUOTE ] If you weren't already behind on the flop, I think you're most likely behind now. I push if I think he won't call with anything weaker than a set and check/fold otherwise I guess. EDIT: Since you checked and he bets, I fold. |

K with Kd checks behind 100% of the time from a thinking plyer right? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I think so. I think all one-pair hands check behind except for maybe AKd. |

ok, so I hate to actually pull the rug from under your feet but I was actually villain in this hand and I had
Jd 7d I should have pushed the turn instead of betting 75% of what he had left. anyways he called the $105, 4th diamond hits, and I get stacked. anybody checkbehind the flop here? |

Well that's interesting. I assume you had a reason to do it when UTG opened UTG. Definatly played well though, were you able to put "hero" on exactly QQ? What other hand could he have? You would've heard from AA or KK, you would've heard from JJ or 99, TT will prob fold, AK will fold, and as previously stated K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] folds preflop. Obviously that's a lot to think about at the time, but doesn't it make sense now?
If you're going to bet turn you might as well shove. <---Might be results oriented. |

Hmm, I see what you're saying. When villain bets that turn, he almost never has a one-pair type hand, so it's either air or monster. I think it's rarely air because 1) villain knows you have a good hand because you coldcalled $23 preflop and 2) most people don't have the balls to fire two barrels on that kind of board. I think it was a bad move by villain. (the real villain, not you)

[/ QUOTE ] yes I should have shoved turn. I wasn't thinking right at the time. at least it wasn't a huge underbet. I will usually do this when blinds are fairly tight and UTG opens a lot of hands and would be usually unwilling to play a reraised pot out of position. unfortunately SB called. flop was a miracle and I figured if I bet and sb raised, I push. I have a lot of fold equity against QQ and maybe KK. set of jacks is unlikely given that I have a J. AA will call but I can always suckout as a small favorite. |
