Foxwoods is last aggressor, however *some* people go by hand strength e.g. the guy with the best hand tables, and gets the pot.

How can a player going to a cardroom for the first time learn the rules that cardroom uses?

This is def the way it's supposed to work, but Borg uses last aggressive action on a checked river. And I think it SUCKS.

do you think it also sucks when theres action on the river and last aggressor has to show, or just if its checked around?

In poker, the bettor shows. If there is no bet on the final round, the person with the worst position is obligated to show first. Borgata's rule is contrary to about 90% of cardrooms out there - honestly, my ability to raise the turn in position and check behind on the river before looking at my opponent's hand first is an advantage -it's a POSITIONAL advantage. I don't get why my decision to check the river should negate his obligation to show first; it's just backwards. Just my opinion, I know some disagree with me.

P.S. I'm only referring to if the river is checked around.

In all the Texas home games I've ever played in the last agressor rule is used. Why some (or most) casinos are different puzzles me.

Last time this topic came up when I was playing at LV Bally's the dealer stated very clearly that if there's no action on the river last aggressor shows first. I wasn't in the hand but questioned her after it was over, since that's contrary to most Vegas poker rooms. She reiterated that she was absolutely certain that's Bally's rule. I didn't ask a floor for verification. Wouldn't surprise me if the dealer was Just Wrong about the rule. Not that big a deal... I think next time there's a fight over who shows first on the river I may just declare "I want to see all the hands".

YMMV

The rule ought to be that anyone who has a live hand at the showdown has to show their hand.
