You know, there are some marvelous flu remedies known in the certain remote parts of the subcontinent. Licorice root, for instance, combined with bamboo sap and a strong shot of whiskey. Ginger root, also, mixed with, uh, citrus peel, and a strong shot of whiskey.

In fact you could leave out everything except the whiskey and still be well on your way.

If, however, you take zicam, you can get rid of your cold in 7 days. Also, you might permanently lose your sense of smell. Have a nice day.

The makers of Airborne straightforwardly fabricated a story about their product having been shown to be effective via controlled trial. The person who lied about this trial also lied about having a degree from Indiana.

Its particularly useful if you take these products at the first sign of a cold because sometimes you will not really have a cold. When your symptoms don't last very long (which they wouldn't have even if you didn't take the snake oil), you selectively remember it. Step three...profit.

Microwave a glass of orange juice till its nice and hot. Stir in some brown sugar and a shot of rum. It has a real nice effect when sick, and its good for you. Especially when mixed with a little nyquil.

edit: spiced rum is better for this in my opinion.
