[ QUOTE ]
:grunch: Hand 3: Check the flop, if little action call. You have to lead that turn. Turn: anytime you have a pair and a FD you have a very strong draw. With the way you played the hand, I'm more inclined to fold on the river. [/ QUOTE ] Wouldn't you rather check-raise than bet the turn, because then you wouldn't make CO face calling 2 bets cold and you might even get a showdown without bets on river if you miss the FD? |

typo number two: betting the flop is marginal. [/ QUOTE ] Oh. I bet because I was on the button and wanted to try to take it down with my sixes. When I got heads up on the turn I fired again and then checked it through. I had position the whole time so is it bad? |

Nice catch. I'd say the only difference between betting and C/R is protecting our hand against CO's possible flush draw if a seven hits. Since we think CO will call a bet after us, we can C/R. I'd be less inclined to then follow through with the raise if CO fold since it eliminates the protection gained by a raise, although it is debatable wheater or not we have the value/equity to then raise when CO folds and the action is back to us.

I think Barry made a list in WLLHE of the top ten mistakes low limit players make and betting the flop in late position without a made hand or with a marginal/poor drawing hand is on the list. While you may have the value to bet here do so only if you don't think it will be C/R'd and slow down on the turn.

It is. Lee decided he was, admittly so, actually not that good at poker. He had Barry revise it and that is what he came up with as well as several other revisions in the 3rd edition.

Barry Tenebaum. First hand on the flop. [/ QUOTE ] I think a pair of sixes is a made hand here. If someone's going to call with overcards, you're well ahead of them. |
