Re: Reraised all in with bottom set on straightening board
[ QUOTE ]
You have to call. You still had 7 outs to a house or quads from the flop if he did have a straight. 10 Outs on the turn. Very few people will call a pre flop raise with KT bad luck. [/ QUOTE ] This is what I figured. Even if he shows me the straight I'm getting the odds to call. Thanks everyone. |

Nothing wrong with his preflop raise 2.5xbb late in tourny. It's fine.

I called instantly. [/ QUOTE ] As you should. [ QUOTE ] In retrospect this was an embarrassingly easy call that probably wasn't even worth posting, but here are the results. Hero calls t10232. Turn: (t21532) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) River: (t21532) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Final Pot: t21532 Results in white below: Hero has 9d 9s (three of a kind, nines). UTG+1 has Th Kh (straight, king high). Outcome: UTG+1 wins t21532. [/ QUOTE ] 3 step program time: 1) Laugh out loud at $1 tourney players 2) Put a note on him regarding calling raises with K10 3) Move on to next tourney |

[/ QUOTE ] No, because there's a limper in front and he will never fold to a raise this small, and hero is OOP the rest of the hand. An open raise to 2.5xBB would be OK. Here I think it needs to be 4-5xBB and I lean heavily towards the latter. 4000 to go sounds about right. |

The hand history is messed up or something. Is the standard around here to make it 3x the BB + 1BB for each limper? It seems like that can be coming on a little strong at times, particularly here when my M is between 12 and 13. If I had made it 4000 to go and got two callers the pot would have been roughly the size of my stack. Any bet I had made on the flop would have left me committed, but check folding to overcards would have left me with an M of just over 10. Then what do I do? Hope to pick up a hand bigger than 9s to move all in with? I'm always at a loss as to how much to raise it when my M is starting to drift towards 10. Should I generally be making it 4-5x the BB hoping to pick up the blinds? That seems reasonable, but it can be tough to get away from when I get callers. |

[/ QUOTE ] As your M starts to move close(r) to 10 start thinking about your raise as being a push. Open raising 4-5BBs with 1010 and an M around 10 is bad, just push- you'll hopefully fold out those A9soooted hands the donkeys like to play and at least get yourslef a coinflip or maybe a situation where you're an 80% fav. |
