Munich-Venice is going to be some beautiful countryside.
Wouldn't be bad to stop off someplace in Austria for a couple days.

$7k isn't much money to spend for a month in Europe. I would set at least another 3-4k aside if you want a good time.

I don't think I even spent $5k for a similar thing to what OP did and I never ate anywhere but restaurants. The money budget is probably too much if anything.

Like has been said you are probably doing too many cities, especially if you are going to hit the museums in these cities. I know that after 3 weeks of museums every other day I wanted to cut the throat of the next museum worker I saw. Slow down and take your time and get to know one country. I'd say 2-3 weeks in one country is probably good for a nice visit and to get to see a decent amount of it. Not everything, but much more than most ever see. This is probably going to be my new way of travel.

I spent $25k earlier this year during two months in Europe. I'm a baller though.

well the Euro/USD might be @ 1.7 or 1.8 next summer so I would over budget if I was him, or put some of his money into a Euro CD, or ETF.

That was my thought as well..buy in euros now to guard against the eventual rise. I don't plan on hitting every museum or church, ideally I'd choose one/two "must see" sites in each city and then spend the rest of the time having the one must have experience ..seeing wimbledon in london, a pint in dublin etc.

Gah you retards make me want to gouge my eyes out. It might be 1.1 as well, but none of us have a damn clue. Your statement is meaningless except that yes we should all be prepared for the volatile swings in Forex markets if on a tight budget.

What would be a good plan to protect against big swings if you plan on spending a lot of euros next year? I'm currently working and saving up now in an online savings account at 4.5%. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to save half in dollars, half in euros, or something like that. But how does one go about that? Can I just open up a new savings account in euros and get 4 or 5% return?
