Whirlwind European Tour..Critique This Itinerary
 

Planning on going to Europe for the month of June next year. First time in Europe so looking to get a small taste of each major city and get an idea of where I'd like to come back for a longer stay. Prices are for two adults assuming staying in hostels and buying groceries whenever possible. Looking for ideas on lengths of stays in each city, costs, general timeline and travel plans.

-June 1st Fly from Sfo to Dublin (roundtrip 1550.00 us) fly to amsterdam($250) arriving June 2nd in Amsterdam
-2nd,3rd,4th Amsterdam
-Overnight train to Berlin ($225)
-5th,6th Berlin
-Overnight train to Munich ($100)
-7th,8th Munich
-Overnight Train to Venice ($100)
-9th,10th,11th Venice
-12th train to Florence($75)
-12th,13th,14th,15th Florence/Sienna
-16th train to Rome($75)
-16th,17th,18th Rome
-19th Flight from Rome to Paris($260) or train if more cost effective
-19th,20th,21st,22nd in Paris
-23rd Chunnel to London($180)
-23rd,24rd,25th,26th London
-27th London to Dublin via train and ferry($75)
-27th,28th,29th Dublin
-30th Flight Home
Travel Cost $2,900 app.
Hostel+Food Cost (assuming 25 nights at $150 per night) $3,750
Misc. (including museum admission,dinner out, Wimbledon grounds pass, show tickets) $1,000

lots of money. If you have it, great. If not then look into eurail or ryanair.com cheap flights abound on that site (Lon to Barcelona for 80 USD etc.)

Other than that Id sya less time in venice and florence, more time in rome and paris. Ive never been to the UK/Ireland so I have no idea how long it takes to really see much. But paris and rome are massive.

Looks like the direct train rides come out cheaper than buying a pass, I'm not sure about the rome to paris flight vs. train..believe the train is around 14 hours, flight obviously much less time but you have to deal with the airport. I could take a day away from Florence and add it to Rome. Can Venice be done in less than 2 days? As for Paris hopefully 3 days is enough to see a little of it. I know London and Paris are expensive so trying to cut down on the number of nights there.
I figured that the total cost was reasonable for two adults for a month of travel..looking at hostel costs seems to be about $70-100us per night and then food on top of that. Do you think $150 a night is too much/too little?

I've been allover the net looking for flight deals including skyscanner,bookingbuddy,kayak,dohop etc and the best I can do is 1550 roundtrip inc. taxes and fees for two adults sfo to dublin assuming June1st dep. and June 30th arrival. Best price I found was booking directly with the airline. Should I wait till closer to June to book the flight or is this a reasonable price? Plan was to fly sfo to dublin..cheap flight from dublin to amsterdam..and then return dublin to sfo. Seems like the cheapest is to book dublin roundtrip and then book a oneway to amsterdam.

I would wait a bit, but book the flights a couple months in advance. You may spot a deal flying into another city on your route or something may come up. No one announces sales 9 months in advance.

I would highly recommend going to fewer cities but staying longer in the cities you do choose. You don't want to spend a significant portion of your time in airports and train stations.

Italy in very hot in June.
More days Rome, less Florence
You are going to way to many cities. Leave out Germany.

Actually, with all the overnight trains OP won't be wasting too much of his time in transit. It's obviously an ambitious plan, but at least feasable.

You should spend a night or two in a place that ISN'T a huge city.

Remember, in Europe, esp Switzerland, the countryside is extremely accessible by train.
