Re: Stars 30+3 bvb bubble AQ big stack vs big stack
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I have no reads on villain at all. Afterwards I checked his stats. Winning player. What is a better size for my 3bet? [/ QUOTE ] Your bet size is fine. What you should remember from this hand is that you need to have a future plan for what to do if this or that happens when you 3-bet. You should always plan ahead, it makes your decisions much easier... [/ QUOTE ] My plan was to call a shove because I figured he would push weaker aces here too. That's correct right? He pushed pretty much insta btw. I called and flipped against 77. After floping a Q he rivered a 7. Too bad, I liked my play tho. Eventually I came back and we just chopped it 3 handed. Villain was one of the three |

Re: Stars 30+3 bvb bubble AQ big stack vs big stack
Let's do the math on this one. As Sherman suggested in a post earlier in the week we need to be more rigorous in our analysis otherwise it's just a bunch of opinions.
Using Rocco's range here's the equity via pokerstove: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 43.795% 37.20% 06.60% 764342976 135534840.00 { AQs, AQo } Hand 1: 56.205% 49.61% 06.60% 1019352144 135534840.00 { 77+, AJs+, AJo+ } Total pot will be 34834. It costs you 13142. It's close (you are putting in 37.7% of the pot at the decision point) but you are getting the odds to call. Question is, do you agree with the range? |

I think villain's range would be wider than that, making a call even easier

man your WELL above the 20 M level, you don't need to be risking your entire stack with AQ
unless you got a read (which you don't), easy fold esp your in a position to FT this tourney as well, make your moves there, where there will be alot of short stacks pushing with air |

awkward stack sizes...not sure about the 3bet amount...I may have flat called and seen what developed...any reads on the SB at all? [/ QUOTE ] I like just calling as well. Disguises the strenght of our hand and gives us pot control. I've recently been busted twice out of tourney's late, in BvB confrontations so my view may be squed. |

Re: Stars 30+3 bvb bubble AQ big stack vs big stack
Calling is nice because it keeps worse aces & worse queens involved & we're short enough we can happily felt TP on the flop.
Raise/calling is also fine. Raise/folding is awful, we have comfortably more than enough equity we need to make the AI call. |
