Stars 30+3 bvb bubble AQ big stack vs big stack

No history with villain. I have been playing tight, accumulating chips with good hands. Have not been caught on a steal or a bluff yet.

My current position is 3/21. 18 paid.

A lot of this depends on feel, but I think you can call and be flipping at worst a great deal of the time, and not be behind very often. However, if I felt like I could accumulate by stealing and restealing a lot then I'd just fold this and do that, since you'll still have a decent stack left.

I wouldn't call a nitty opponent here, but barring reads, I normally assign people to be tight in a more normal way. Can't really tell the exact hand range but it's definitely 77+/AJ+ and you're a little less than a coinflip against that range. I guess AA and KK would call your 3-bet trying to trap instead of shoving, so we can assign those hands less probability. Now we suddenly have a clear call.

call...SB's range for 4-bet shoving in bvb is considerably wider than QQ+ and AK...I don't know what the numbers would be against a reasonable range but I'm pretty sure you're getting more than the right price to call.

In this situation if you're not calling a shove, then don't 3-bet.

awkward stack sizes...not sure about the 3bet amount...I may have flat called and seen what developed...any reads on the SB at all?

Very true! Forgot to mention this, but we should obv know what to do against a possible shove BEFORE we 3-bet.

I have no reads on villain at all. Afterwards I checked his stats. Winning player.

What is a better size for my 3bet?

Your bet size is fine. What you should remember from this hand is that you need to have a future plan for what to do if this or that happens when you 3-bet. You should always plan ahead, it makes your decisions much easier...
