Players at MGM can sometimes be a little tricky/serious (or crazy/drunk) and its clear most are tourists. Excalibur (across the bridge) is way more easygoing. Venetian has a great room and is somewhere in between. (Cost wise I consider MGM middle of the road, Excalibur low end, Venetian high side)

Call the Poker Room at the Venetian and see if they still have their poker rate. Decent rate ($119/night if memory serves me correctly), great place, very nice poker room and easy $1/2 NL game that my wife always plays when we're in Vegas. Also MGM has some good $1/2 games but it's very noisy in their poker room thanks to it's location.
