[ QUOTE ]

I think OP's line is standard and I can't see any alternative way of playing this hand, but in general I don't feel great getting 60 BBs in preflop with 99.

[/ QUOTE ]

Surely you are way ahead of his 3 bet range, and probably ahead of his calling range too.

edit: probably tied with his calling range...which is ok given the pot size

Woodguy, what calling range are you assigning to him?

I am in the SB and Huck is in the BB. It is folded around to us and I look down at 99. I raise the 2,400 blind to 10,400. I raised so much because I wanted this to look like a steal and hopefully have Huck play back at me.

[/ QUOTE ]

FWIW, I never think someone is stealing when they raise more than seems usual in situations when it's usual to raise.

Anyway, shoving is the only play.

Wow, I thought his calling range was TT+, AK. That's why I was feeling gross. If you're right there's much less to feel gross about.

I figure if he thinks Temp is FOS he should widen his calling range a bit.

I could be off, but it feels right.

I suspect shoving is still correct even if this is true. If someone suggests a reraising range for Huck, we can run the numbers, but I really don't think it's close.

Temp raised 4xBB and then shoved. I doubt he thinks he's FOS.

timex, the raise isnt that big. its like just over 4x. I'd shove all day here, and it seems fairly standard.

[/ QUOTE ]
With the antes and being OOP, I don't think 4x is an oversized raise for Hero at all.
