Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
You aren't just getting 11:1, you get to make 3x that investment post-flop when you flop two-pair or better. We call here for the same reason we call 87s for 1 bet preflop 5 ways, but fold it for 3-4 bets. The issue isn't just the ratio, it's our postflop expectation when we hit as well.
I lead the flop here and fold the turn. The A eliminates the fact that a thinking player is simply raising overcards. Too expensive a play for such a small pot. |

Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
I bet the turn but this is fine. I'm not sure why he'd check like 22-44 or a draw on the flop so his hand is like diamonds/nothing so I'm checking Q+/diamond rivers. He doesn't have a Q/K in his hand but we can hopefully let him try to bluff those. I guess we could check almost any river because if he has like 7d6d I don't see him paying off if he gets a pair but he might bluff if we check. I dunno. I do know I like the 3bet, not sure what we should do on the river.
Preflop is of course normal. Once 2 people have limped in a 2/3 blinds structure the only reason to look is in case you have to raise. |

Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
are you sure doug even has cards? His check behind on the button in that spot has me all weirded out.

Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
I actually would be more likely to call preflop with 2 random low cards than with big little unsuited, just because less chance of being dominated. I will reconsider though.

Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
I'd rather call with 7-2 than with J-4. But I fold 'em both, and, for my game, it's good metagame.

Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
For those of you arguing about preflop, forget it. It's fine to fold, it's fine to call. Andy sums it up well.
I see this spot every so often and think, argh, have some stones Joe, and Justin had them here. I love it. |

Yes. I win a lot of pots I wouldn't if I were, say, Gonores. But he wins bigger pots than I do. |

Re: You Can\'t Have Anything
Are we not betting the turn because it paired the only card we were beating, or is there something I'm not understanding?
