would he value shove less than top 2 pair here? would he bluff shove in this spot? given the action and information available, i think the answer to both of these questions is no.

also, i think there is merit to betting this turn. we protect/get value from draws/AJ, and i really don't mind showing more strength and defining our hand further.

once we check/call the turn, i'd check the river again...if he was floating us, he's likely not calling a river bet anyways. and the river really didn't improve our hand unless he has exactly A9s/A3s/A2s, which he will probably be value betting anyways.

Btw,
This should be an easy fold. Why would he shove AK here? The queen just hit and it's a scary card. If he's shoving he's either
a. got a flush
b. has a set ex.99
c. QQ
d. bluff (lol yea right)

so nicky do you advocate a check call here as well, even if he shoves, which is less then pot?

block bet makes more sense since alot hands that beat you will bet bigger on the river if checked too. Block betting saves money and at the same time gains value from AJ hands

i like check/call better than bet/call.

if he shoves after our check, i'm not crazy about it, but yes, i probably call.

yeah i also think i check call here as played.

i think id probably bet the turn here strong and fold to aggression because at this point we can still get away from our hand.

given the check call line he now has less then a psb.

i think the turn is where a decision needs to be made about how far we should take this hand

the only hands we're saving money from by block betting are sets, and if the villain has a set, i can't see him shoving the river often because if he's hand reading, he wants to get value from our top pair hands. we're not getting value from any hands other than AJ and lesser aces up hands, which will probably value bet the river anyway (2 pair hands will only bet the river, AJ will check).

So what hands do you think will win if he's going to shove river with once you check? This is why I like a bet/fold better. You will gain alot of value from the same type of hands that are going to call river blockbet and not shove with.
