If he's the kind of person who's too shy to do something about it, he's not exactly going to be able to talk about it either. You're trying to use logic to assess this guy's emotions, and that's just never going to work. It may well work out fine, but it's simply not worth the risk.

Ultimately, if the guy gets hurt over it, it's his own fault, but as a friend who recognizes this possibility you should still try to avoid having it happen. I voted "yes" because you're not really doing anything immoral if you do it and it's really all his fault, but it's a terribly idea regardless.

In my opinion, if Jack is good friends with her though and now likes her you asking her out will just get you into a situation with alot more drama then you want in your life.
