Had one done this year and it was way better than I expected. Comparable to the discomfort and inconvenience of a medium cavity filling. Mouth flubbery for a while afterwards because of anaesthetic, like any filling, but otherwise fine. I think maybe the technology has improved over time, so they were brutal 20 years ago but much better now.

real codeine? i'm not following. codeine is a synthetic opiate. hydrocodone (vicodin) and oxycodone (percocet) are synthetics as well. are you implying that you would ask the dentist to give you morphine instead? if someone is allergic to synthetic opiates they are almost always alergic to morphine as well. also, a dentist is never going to be giving you morphine for a root canal. oxycodone is the strongest painkiller you will get.

Oh god morphine is an incredibly drug. Even reading the name makes me wish I could get it again somehow.

Yeah, route canals are not painful at all. Getting your widsom teeth removed is what hurts.

[/ QUOTE ]

not true. i had my top 2 wisdom teeth pulled last tuesday. it was painless before, during and after the procedure.

i have to go under to have my bottom 2 removed, hopefully it goes as smoothly as the top 2 did.

Speaking from experience, you will probably feel just fine for about 4 hours immediately afterwards, but will sound a little funny; after that, you more than likely will not feel like being vertical, at all...

doesn't just mask the pain. it changes the way your body percieves pain. when it first began being used in medicine, it was truly a wonder drug.
