Re: Advice for Atlantic City trip
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Will it be easy for me to drive through AC and park in the city/boardwalk? [/ QUOTE ] Parking is not easy if not parking in a casino. Even to drive through AC from the Borgata to the Boardwalk will take a little while because of traffic lights. However, there isn't too much driving distance involved for the things you will want to see, compared with the Las Vegas Strip, for instance. I would just park in casino garages/lots, and if there is somewhere else you want to go in town, either walk it or take a cab/jitney. Also, if you go from one casino parking lot to another, save the receipt they give you, you only have to pay once per day (usually around $4-$5). [/ QUOTE ] Solid...better off parking your car and walking everwhere or taking the jitney. |

I second Mike's recommendation for the White House. Best bread ever. [/ QUOTE ] That's Formica Bakery bread, it's made a few blocks away and used by every decent sub shop in the area. Only place in the world you can get it. I always recommend Los Amigos for food because no one else does. If you're going to stay in a casino, stay in one in the city area itself rather than the Borgata which is in the Marina district. You can walk right out the front of the strip casinos and be on the boardwalk. Upscale food: the Palm without a doubt @ Tropicana. Flawless out of the 5 or 6 times I've been there, although pricey. Once of these dyas we ought to make a Visitors Guide to AC for 2+2ers/ |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Also hoping to eat at some good upscale restaurants. What type of food? [/ QUOTE ] Steakhouse and/or Seafood [/ QUOTE ] Not sure if you consider Ruth Chris' steakhouse as upscale, however they have on in the heart of AC. The Borgata has a pretty good steak restaraunt. Docks for seafood http://www.docksoysterhouse.com/ [/ QUOTE ] Thanks, Docks Oyster House sounds great and on my list. |

Are you bringing a wife or GF? If so, then stay on the Boardwalk. She will have plenty of shopping opportunities.

I was under the impression it was the place to be but sounds like you miss out on the real Atlantic City experience if you're away from the boardwalk area. |

Re: Advice for Atlantic City trip
Borgata is across the street from #11. You are driving/taking a bus to get to the Boardwalk. The Taj is #3 and the Trop is #12. Caesar's (and its new pier shops/restaurants) is # 8. |

If you dont mind driving through the 'hood, you can make it from the Borgata to the Showboat in under 10 minutes. Although the Borgata certainly is the nicest casino in AC, you will not have experienced AC until a toothless person asks if you want to take a riskshaw ride on the boardwalk. |

The borgata is the newest/nicest/swankiest hotel in AC....That said i would definitely reccomend staying at one of the hotels on the boardwalk (especially during the summer)...It's just so nice being able to walk between the hotels on the beach and checking out the shops etc. You shouldn't have a problem finding low limit poker games no matter where you go. Maybe head over to Borgata one night for some partying! |

Re: Advice for Atlantic City trip
Borgata is an elite-caliber casino on a national scale - its comparable to the Bellagio/Wynn/Venetian in Vegas. Geographically and stylistically, it stand alone.
The boardwalk casinos are much more comparable to the Fremont/downtown Vegas casinos. They are 'real' AC, which is not always a compliment. If you want a better 'shore' experience (non gambling), I suggest heading to neighboring towns down the coast. |
