[ QUOTE ]
This is not the dealer's fault and he should not have been berated. It is not incompetence, it is poor training or the fact that the guy shouldn't be a dealer. The casino should be berated, not the poor man who didn't know who to read the hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't really like the idea that the dealer isn't at fault here. of course he is, as is the house.

But there is no reason to berate a dealer, or anybody really. Its not productive. Berating this dealer in public isn't going to help the situation.

This is correct, but I would probably have to at least ask this "dealer" how exactly he procured a job without being able to know AK beats AJ in this situation.....

I'm also wondering why apparently none of the players spoke up and assisted the dealer so they could move on with life. I think an ideal situation would be to politely inform the dealer that AK is the winner and move on to the next hand. I'm making a mental note of the dealer's name and having a conversation with the floor away from the table at the break.

I mean, if you explained to him that AK beats AJ and he still calls the floor over that is one thing...but if you simply twiddled your thumbs while the floor was called over that is quite another thing...so which one was it?

at first it seemed as if he was just figuring who had who covered by staring at the chipstacks, (he was only covered by maybe 150) but once it became clear he was not doing that, then people spoke up and immediately once someone said something, THEN he called the floor.

I find this hard to believe that it took "literally 2 full minutes" for all this to happen. Here in town, if the winner isn't announced almost imediately, 7 of the players start "offering their services" to the dealer. Your entire table must have been asleep or the perception of time (like most every thread on here) is completely off. You lost zero equity and probably would have only played 4 hands in 10 minutes if this dealer was as bad as you say. 4 hands is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

...maybe they didn't give him this hand in his audition

the dealer had been seemingly competent up to this point, and although the individual times could possibly be slightly off, the whole ordeal certainly took a total of ten minutes.

Sidenote: my friend who is a decent player applied to Foxwoods over the internet on Monday. He got his rejection letter in under 24 hours since they didn't like his "work history"

To get past the computers at most casinos now you have to list jobs covering every day of the last 10 years.
