This experiment was already done in boxing.
From bare knuckles to light gloves to outlawed gloves(I think one brand was 'Casanova*') to the gloves they have now. Lighter gloves don't = more knockouts. As already mentioned, it puts the fighters hands in more jeopardy. Alot of bare knuckle fights were stopped simply because a guys hands were hamburger. There would probably be alot more cuts as you'd likely have more edges to catch instead of flatter surface area. *Little trivia. Casanova gloves were used in the original Rocky movie. They were outlawed by then in real boxing for various reasons, but Stallone thought they looked cool. He said him and Weathers had to be a bit careful when using them. b |
