What i do is suffle a deck and deal out 9 hands face up and then i deal the flop turn and river. I'll do this over and over again and study all the cards. This helps me to see the range of different hands that are possable. This kinda helps me with my game overall. Has anyone ever tried this?

You can get software to do this and get several times the bang out of each hour of practice time. Turbo Texas Holdem is great as long as you ignore its advice. You can have it deal hands face up, as many as you want at a time, etc. You can even program your own robots with it to play against or run simulations, etc.

I do. Exactly as you describe.

It's usually when I'm bored and there's a deck of cards around.

I think it's funny you mention this.

No it isn't. But it is a good investment, especially if you can't go online to practice. Google Wilson software.

Do you think it gives you a good feel for the game by doing this?

I have done this, too. For me it was a board reading practice. I would just figure out, which the best hand would be, how many outs I have and so on.

just helps you get the view of how many outs do you have and what cards might seem to help you but can actually be dangerous seeing better hands can be made

I think it's very good to help you recognize what the nut hand is with different boards. When I was learning I used to do this frequently.

This is especially true with O8.

Frequently.

I've read that Doyle used to do this endlessly in hotel rooms on the road.
