[ QUOTE ]
Taking down the blinds are not my only priority. I am interested in getting involved in a cooperation play to take down the SB, he only has a little over 1 orbit left, a limp might induce either a call at 8.5:1 or a push. A dry side pot also limits my exposure. Chip leader on my left has been a thorn for the last 2 tables and with these supersized antes, I can't afford to be handcuffed for long. Even with only 7 people the antes add up to 2,800 which is more than both blinds at 2,400. I want to burst the bubble and get a new table layout. [/ QUOTE ] Don't worry about taking out the short stack. There is no point in trying to set up a cooperation play, and you may not suceed in that anyway. Also, you don't want to burst the bubble. Having the chip leader two to your left is a bad layout, but the bubble is to your advantage as a short stack. If the big stack is giving you trouble, you need to handle him with intelligent aggressive play. |

I will give the flop and turn here since I think the flop seemed kind of straightfoward.
I limp 33, SB actually folded and BB checked. Pot: 6,800, Flop: 2,4,6 rainbow. BB checks, I bet 4,000, BB calls?! Pot: 14,800, Turn: 3 still rainbow BB bets 5,000, I... Just a reminder, my read on BB is a straight foward bettor with big hands but he has also been bullying quite a bit. |

Aggressive play works because people react to it like you did here. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think you hqve to flat call the turn, even if villain may be drawing to a straight. You have a big hand, but there is a gutshot on the board. Calling allows him to bluff or value bet a weaker hand on the river, and minimizes your losses if you are behind. Also, if he has a straight and the board pairs, you should double up. |

[/ QUOTE ] I thought the turn was a little more interesting but these were pretty much my thoughts. My range for villain on flop was small pair (2 or 4) with a gutshot, small pair with an over, 2 pair, straight, or maybe a bluff call. I had pretty much eliminated the 6, overpair or Ax from his range. On the turn his straight odds just went way up so I decided to take a cheap card for my set with 10 outs and huge implied odds. I have 33. Pot: 24,800, Board: 2,4,6,3 River was a 5 BB pushes and has me covered. I have aound $30K behind. It's intersting that the floorman called the clock on me after only about 30 seconds giving me only 30 seconds more. This recently happened to ZeeJustin at Bay101. This was at Lucky Chances about 45 mins away. He said that the other table was waiting on me so a player must have been eliminated during this hand to make it 12 left. Since I believe he was the tournament director, there was no one to appeal to. At these local casino's thinking is frowned upon. |

I guess this hand wasn't as intersting as I thought. Maybe I was biased because I managed to go from 2nd to out on the bubble.
BB showed J7o and my head exploded. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This is a perfect spot for playing set value [/ QUOTE ] i guess i just disagree with this... aggressive doesn't really mean you let people limp then go broke when they hit a set? (bad does) [/ QUOTE ] ??? Why would he go broke? He is talking about himself playing for set value. If he does not hit his set, he folds with no chance in going broke. If he does hit his set and still goes broke, well that is different. SB is not folding any pair here. If SB is paired up, he is most likely gonna push. If you lose set over set, so be it. Also, BB is calling a wide range here even if we do raise. Your point makes no sense to me? [/ QUOTE ] i was talking about BB, not about hero. sorry not to say it better. |
