is 10-15 players spread out between the majors, for a single season really that big of an effect?

[/ QUOTE ]

A good deal will end up staying more than one year, so it adds up.

Other way around, actually. By forcing everyone to go to college the NBA has given big schools a talent infusion. Creighton wasn't losing a lot of commits to the pros, but UNC and OSU would be a fair bit worse if the NBA still drafted 18 year olds.

[/ QUOTE ]

Neither. Just coincidence. Let me know if five years whether any of this is true. I doubt it. Just a normal fluctuation in the results.

You don't think 10-15 of the very best 18 year olds in the country playing for big schools instead of NBA teams will change the balance of power? 2 of the 5 or so best players in the country are freshmen.

were there really 10-15 guys comming out every year?

that seems really high especially considering not all of the guys going pro were qualified to play d1 ball.

There weren't 10-15 getting drafted every year, but it was trending that was. It went from 0 in the mid 90s to ~5-10 by the mid 00s.

Also, think about your second sentence for a little bit.

The effect is minimal. You're talking about 2 players. What about the other top seeds? Call me when this happens the next five years.

I don't know statistics that well, but there seems to be something wrong with declarling that something happens only once in 30 years based on only 22 years of data.

Just in case someone out there is mathematically-challenged, let me break it down for you: crappiest first-round in a generation.

[/ QUOTE ]

Apparently, I'm "mathematically-challenged" because I don't see it as a crappy first round at all. So what if there hasn't been many big upsets. Doesn't that just mean the Selection Committee did a damn good job seeding teams?
