I didn't think you could ignore mods

[/ QUOTE ]

you can if you ignore them before they were made a mod.

From reading politics it seems like all tomcollins does at this point is troll.

[/ QUOTE ]
QFT, which is ashame because he is an intelligent guy that can contribute useful info when he trys.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to defend Tom Collins here.

As stated above, particularly correctly by Iron, Nielsio's threads universally blow.

The first time you make a stupid post, some people will respond with intelligent responses and attempt to convince you how stupid you are, in a somewhat sane manner.

This might even happen the second time you make that post.

When you do it for the 12th time, the only responses the post merits, and the ones you're going to get the most, are sarcastic responses from people frustrated with the forum being cluttered with the same crap from the same idiots.

If the mod is not going to simply delete these threads and minimize the clutter, then these are type of responses these posts are going to get, and I see nothing wrong with them. They not only are appropriate, their humor is usually the only redeeming thing in the thread.

[/ QUOTE ]

there is 0 reason to troll someone in this forum and he even has his title as "trolling the trolls". one of the biggest no-no's for a serious poster is trolling. I think the mods should consider suspending tom for a few days or at least let him know that trolling is completely unacceptable. IMO this is one of the most easy and valuable fixes a mod can have for their forum, ridding it of trolls.

note: i do agree that bad posts should be deleted. iron should either delete the bad posts or discipline the trolls. by doing neither he continues to allow his forum to suck.

I have Nielsio on ignore. These are some reasons why. He is a full-blown 'tard who needs to be banned.

iron,

I don't know anything about the facts here and have no opinion on the matter. I jsut wanted to comment that this quote was pretty funny: "The reason Tom Collins and many others call most of Nieliso's threads stupid is because most of Nieliso's threads are stupid."

Mat,

I think before adding someone to help Iron a better place to start would be to come up with a moderating philosophy for the forum.

i for example would do things much differently than say iron neither of us are wrong but they couldnt really work together.

a good place to start would be how to handle posters like neilso who threads so ridiculous in nature they are impossible to discuss rationally.

additionally there is a lot of circular arguing that occurs in that forum which makes it unreadable for the vast majority of us.

here is an illustration I did for bbv yesterday

[ QUOTE ]

poster A: makes point

poster B: counters

Poster A: makes same point again

Poster B: counters with same

Poster C: government is the suck

poster A: makes same point again

Poster C: no seriously government is the suck

poster B: same counter

repeat this about 30 more times

[/ QUOTE ]

let's get some consensus on what type of politics forum we want then find mods who are able to implement that.
