No. You don't. I limp other hands too, and LRR is a part of my game.

FeltBelt -

I hear what you're saying. I get frustrated when I get 3bet off my pockets on a frequent basis. The other day the guy to my left was coming over the top of me all the time. When I was in the CO, the guys in the blinds were loose. A couple times I went to 4 preflop with like 66, button went to like 14, and the blinds and me folded. I tried open limping a pair, button went to 4, blinds both called, and I was able to call getting the big pot multiway situation I was looking for (I didn't set up, but I felt good about the situation). In specific situations like this I think there is a case to be made for open limping - but I have a feeling most will disagree. Anyways my two cents.

Ahh finally someone who doesn't immediately poo poo the idea.

One thing that I've found is that when the SB or BB hits TP against you and you set up with a limped PP, it's relatively easy to get a lot of money in quickly. That's another advantage, imho. I've cranked a lot of K6/Q9/T7 type hands on set boards when they hit TP (or even better, two pair) and go nuts.

I disagree with all this open limp hating.

Call me crazy (or bad), but I open limp a lot of hands (including big pairs, medium pairs, small pairs, connectors, and suited aces) a percentage of the time. It seems to work out well for me.

100nl and below its fine and probaly the better play to limp small pockets from first 2 positions. this is beacuse the players dont notices things like this at these levels. 200nl and above im sure you would get abused pretty bad for plays like this tho.

i seriously hate when people say ' you should never do this ' beacuse thats the wrong attitude for poker

I play 200/400/600 and I honestly haven't found any abuse from this strategy. I wonder if that will change ...
