What if he checks the river- then don't we lose a bet by not raising the turn?

[ QUOTE ]
You could consider just calling the turn and raising the river. I strongly doubt he'd play an 8 or 33 this fast on the flop. You have the best hand, and to extract max value, keep him betting. [/ QUOTE ] Some people would play an 8 or 33 fast just to be deceptive since the general consensus is to slowplay. |

Raising the river is better since he just sat down.If he had been there & had a chance to see that you are not a maniac, you would have a lot less chance of getting a call out of him.
Also,if he folds to your river raise(which he often will, imo),he will not get to see your hand,& this may affect his future play against you, which is in your favor. |

As played on flop, I would call down. Against most live players I would either call flop bet and raise turn, or if i raised flop, i would definately 4 bet if given the chance. with those lines, if i get played back at on the turn, i can safely get away from the hand(against my typical opponents), saving at least half a bet.

When I dont have a read on a player I would much rather choose the safer play which would allow me to showdown the river. In this case after he 3 bets flop I would just call turn and river bets allowing me to showdown. If he doesnt have the 8 or 33 he will possibly check the river if 2 scary over cards show up.
Remember this is only because no reads so you dont want to make a big laydown without any information from the guy. |
