Affiliates will make software to track the rake. This is easily done and already done at party. if there is MGR, there is rakeback

One major difference, Party was still using individual trackers. It would not work without that.

People used to use PT screenshots as a sort of semi-proof, although it was pretty abuse-prone. I don't know if that type of honor system would work for Stars, though.

Think about it this way. You own a business, and one of your customers says "I know you have the best prices in town but, could I get a discount?" How would you react?

How exactly is this flushing money down the toilet? There are MANY major(and minor) affiliates that don't promote Pokerstars due to their flat CPA deal. This is going to bring in tons more traffic.

I am hoping they offer this MGR deal to most every affiliate.

It is pretty simple to police rakeback and its already stated to not allow individual trackers.

I wonder how current players will react to this.

Will you continue to play on your Supernova account or would your dad all of a sudden become a 50k a month player on stars ? This would be an interesting dilemma but a rather good one to have.

I am glad stars is doing this, not only from an affiliate stand point but from a players point of view as well. I would love for affiliates to be bringing in thousands of new fish every month. I have already stated that I feel the ocean has turned into a lake, and on the way to turning into a pond.

Can someone please explain to me what all of this means in layman's terms? Is Stars now going to offer rakeback? Sorry for being ignorant but I'm a little new.

It is clear that Stars does not endorse rakeback...

agreed sniper, but neither did party. I may be sounding naive here but it seems unenforceable.
