if u call bb is certainly gonna push then button will call then ur allin will certainly be called by the button due to the pot odds he gets..u dont want this to be a 3way pot...er i wouldnt anyway............so push...... [/ QUOTE ] I think you do want a 3-way pot... If the Button wins then you come in second, if you win then you secured second and are making a run for first. If the BB wins then you could still be in fine shape as long as you don't end up with the worst of the 3 hands. So, my goal woud be to make it a 3-way pot and for that reason I call here. rvg |

i would still say push and hope BB calls and button folds (given the pot dead money also)..but i see what ur saying , i think either could be seen as correct here.

I don't like to call here for the following reason:
Say you call, and BB pushes. Button obviously calls, and you call (not allowed to raise here I think). Flop comes 3 rags, and button pushes. Now what? You'd hate to fold, but calling doesn't seem terribly attractive either. Or do we open push any flop? With AK I want to see all five cards. BB will almost certainly call your push with any two here, because if the button folds he can triple up, facing only one hand. |

This is a Pokerstars $11 Approximate chip stacks prior to posting blinds BB 11,000 SB (Hero) 2,000 BB 500 Blinds are 100/200 with a 25 ante Dealt to Hero: AKo Action as follows: Button raises to 400 Hero????????????? [/ QUOTE ] In the end, Hero called the 400 from the SB, assuming that BB would auto-push his tiny stack and then the button and I could combine to knock out the BB. However, BB actually folded his hand pre-flop, leaving me heads-up against the huge stack. The flop then came Axx, all of the same suit. (My K was not of that suit). What should the hero do now, realizing that if he loses an all-in here, he goes home in third, while the micro-stack with only 300 chips left moves up to second? |

![]() Ok lets be serious, you are OBVIOUSLY playing for 2nd place here. This "you are playing for first place" garbage is too stupid here. This mindless "always play for first" idea once you are ITM is just ridiculous. The BB has you outstacked by more than 5-1, meanwhile the shortstack has almost no chips left. Anyway I would flat call. |

![]() YOU SHOULD BE PLAYING FOR 2ND! Man if you guys had a situation where it was 5 million chips for one guy 500 chips for another and 5 chips for another you would still be going for first stating the 3-1 payout ratio. You are down more than 5-1 on chips and are ahead of 3rd place 3-1. You are supposed to wrap up 2nd and then go for first in this situation. |

I think you should read this link. It's to a bubble question. But technically I still consider yours a bubble quesiton because of the chips stacks involved. Soooooo it might help you a little.
I believe the correct play would be to flat call. And I think you'll see why i think that by reading this other post. JJ bubble question |

By the way, I call this play the shorty re-steal. You do it for 2 reasons. One to put shorty in a position where he needs to beat 2 people, or if he folds, you chop 200 out of his stack. You should be more than willing to give BS 400 from your stack, if it includes 200 from the shorty.
It's kind of like when you take a few pawns, and then start trading down to end game. |
