Trip report pls.

[/ QUOTE ]

Back when I was a student at Penn, back in my hippy-ish days, Springsteen used to play little clubs and coffeehouses around Philadelphia. If my memory serves me, I saw him at the Second Fret. The details are lost in the mists of time and marijuana. I can't honestly say that I foresaw what he would later become--or I would have paid more attention.

Nelly, I used t hang out with kids that were in the same grad w/ him at U city high, so I saw a lot of [censored] before he was big.

The Urge, most of the members went to my high school, and they preformed there before they got "big".

Dave Matheews, my cousin, when i was 12 or 13 (im 23 now) gave me a cassete tape of them, its what got me started playing harmonica.

Eh, Hootie and the Blowfish and Jewel. I got crushed by bouncers when I was drunky and tried to convince Jewel to come out to a party with me.

Papa Roach, they were somewhat popular in the Bay Area since they come from a shithole about an hour NE of San Francisco. Oh, and the greatest band of all time, Key to Arson, from Sacramento...oh, wait, they still haven't been discovered and broke up two years ago. :tear:

Verve Pipe. Meh. They were more or less weekly at a local college bar for a year or so. I hated them and I hated the fact that my favorite bar was so packed when they played.

I haven't seen any bands before they got huge (not really a concert freak although I wish I'd go more often). But this is the one band I saw WAY after they stopped being popular. It was about a year and a half ago at some little music festival... I think it was in Beloit or something. It was actually a pretty fun outdoor concert, but it's damn sad to see a band fall so far.

And yes, I like Hootie. Leave me alone.

I saw The Who backing up Herman's Hermits in 1967 at Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay. They were just making it big as that tour progressed.

One of their tricks was to call in a bomb threat after they left the stage. HH got to do 2 songs before they cleared the building.

I could not believe The Who would smash all their instruments at the end of their set for a small Northern Ontario audience but they [censored] well did. It was awesome.

Blues Magoos opened that show.

I remember it like it was yesterday. First big concert I ever atteneded.
