The Venetian poker room is easily among the top three poker rooms in Vegas. The other two are Wynn and MGM, in no particular order. Bellagio management's aloof attitude toward its low and mid-limit players will bite 'em good.

It is nice, comfortable (great chairs), and the poker was cheap. I played 40-80. But the next biggest game the night I was there was 6-12. And there was only one table of each, with no waiting list when 3 of us left the game before 11 PM.

[ QUOTE ] Well that blows - I had alot of fun in the 40 last time I was in town. Jeff [/ QUOTE ] Jeff, FWIW, the 40 regulars were telling me it's at Venetian every night when I was there 2 weekends ago. [/ QUOTE ] They told me that as well, but they lied. The game stopped spreading right after you left. The staff at the Wynn said the 40 game was on it's last gasps for air at the Venetian, and someone went as far as saying that the room won't last 2 years. Saddy... they might be right. It was rocking when we were there DaveR, but after you left it died a horrible death really fast. And there are no games during the day TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Venetian has been my home base since opening. My favorite room by FAR! Can't stand the Bellagio, and the Wynn is a bit much for my taste (and too physically tight of a room).
Though the mid and higher limits during the weekdays are admittingly dry, as mentioned, they still push 20-30 tables during peak hours and weekends. Though since the Big Game has been going back and forth, some of the middle/higher have been also going back and forth on weekends, especially. |

"the Wynn is a bit much for my taste"
What does this mean? The only thing about the Wynn I don't like is the physical tightness you mention, beyond that I think it's a fantastic room. |

V spreads 5/10NL (no max) during most peak hours (busy weekday evenings and weekend late afternoon/evenings). The 2/5 has a 1K max, which has increased action significantly, from what I have heard.
[ QUOTE ] "the Wynn is a bit much for my taste" What does this mean? [/ QUOTE ] This means exactly what I said. It is a bit much. Too busy for a small space, too cramped, too many overly serious locals, too many deepstacked grinders, not enough floors keeping tabs on open seats and filling accordingly (i.e. when list is a mile long, there shouldn't be short handed tables), etc. Just all in all, a bit much. Personally, I prefer a a good game where John Q Tourist would feel comfortable sitting down in (as well as I). When the lowest NL game is $3 chips and uncapped, many fish look elsewhere (i.e. accross the street). I am admittingly a low brow NL player (i.e. 1/2 or 1/3), and like the welcoming aspect of the V's room with regard to staff and conventioner/tourist clientele that are comfortable/happy to lose their money $200 at a time. |

I really didn't think I would need to. Since this thread is about the V not the W, I thought by saying that the W was a bit much for me would be enough. However, always glad to elaborate when called upon.
