Are you seriously going to review Crossroads starring Ralph Macchio????

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep, unless another 'C' gets suggested. I like it a lot. And while it is often remembered for the music, it's actually a pretty well-put together road movie, with plenty of character-based drama.

Worth it for the duel scene alone.

Bah on Dogma; overhyped crap.

One of the previous posts just reminded me of Duel. You should do that for your "D" movie instead. Awesome film.

the Wind that Shakes the Barley.

Despite winning at Cannes, this film currently has no US release date. Dominic mentioned seeing it on his flight to London, but didn't say much about it.

I'm rapidly becoming a Cillian Murphy fan, so far I've been very impressed with his work.

thanks,

Shauna

Also, there is a repository of film reviews done in OOT before this forum was created, here

Is anyone maintaining a similar list of review links for this forum? It's much nicer having an alphabetical list instead of using the search.

Okay, much as I welcome food and drink stuff here, it's time to fight back just a little.

I currently have limited internet access most of the time for the next 2-3 weeks, and wish to attempt 26 reviews (A-Z) in the months of August and September - and given no internet most of the time, I have more time on my hands than usual.

Here's what I have on my list, but if any of you can better my choices, please fire away, and I'll swap them for your suggestions if (i) I own or have watched recently the film/TV show you want (I own a lot) and/or (ii) you can give me a good justification for reviewing that (which means buying it, I'm not a renting kind of guy).

I particularly like suggestions for movies that are easily available but for one reason of another aren't as widely-seen as they maybe should be.

Here's my current list, a mix of old/new, weird and odd, some 'WTF is he reviewing that for, everyone in the world has seen it already?!?', and some classics too:

African Queen
Blood on Satan's Claw
Crossroads (NOT the Britney one)
Dogma
Eight Legged Freaks
Formula 51
Gangster No.1
Highlander
It
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
The Keep
Long Good Friday
Man Bites Dog
1984
Once Upon a Time in the West
Predator 2
Quadrophenia
Robocop
Seven Samurai
Top Secret
Unbreakable
The Vikings
Wages of Fear
Xtro
Year of the Comet
Zoolander

I don't think I've reviewed any of these before, but could be wrong.

Anyway, tell me what you want instead - and remember, reasons will have significant sway in what gets swapped around.

Jules and Jim, Jonah Who Will Be 25 in the Year 2000 (I'm not sure if it's on DVD though), or Jews in Space (Wait! Mel Brooks didn't make this one), sort of like Oh Brother! Where Art Though? and Ants in Your Pants. Of course, one was made but quite a few years later, and we're still waiting for a film using the second title (are you listening?).

Here's some changes so far. I've picked one from each suggestion. Where I've not taken a suggestion, don't feel bad, I just either haven't got it or have no desire to see it. Crash and U-Turn I might accept if I can get a copy of each in time...

So here's the list now...

Bold denotes ones suggested by other posters, and can be taken as a lock on that letter
underline denotes ones I've changed cos of moaning about the previous listing
Italics denote a lock I've imposed (probably cos I've written it

African Queen
Blood on Satan's Claw
Crossroads (NOT the Britney one)
Duel by Borodog
Eight Legged Freaks
Formula 51
Gangster No.1
Highlander
It
Jerk
The Keep
Long Good Friday
Man Bites Dog
1984
Once Upon a Time in the West
Predator 2
Quadrophenia
Romper Stomper by Odell
Spirit of the Beehive by John Cole
Top Secret
Unbreakable
The Vikings
Wages of Fear
Xtro
Year of the Comet
Zoolander

Oh, and 'The Vikings' is the 'V'.

I would replace Unbreakable with:

The Untouchables
Uncle Buck
Up in Smoke

Then again, I would recommend doing just about anything instead of watching Unbreakable.
