How about you just drive a normal speed to the hospital so you don't get a ticket or kill yourself or someone else while flying down to the hospital at a totally unnessary speed. Do you really think you need to be there a minutes earlier than if you drove at a normal speed? What a selfish [censored].

If I was a cop, I'd be a total douche to you for thinking that you're above the law.

Put a sign on your truck that says "GOING TO HOSPITAL, I'M BLEEDING". Paint the sign in red paint.

I would say floor it!

But reading this also reminded me of that police video of the cop pulling over the older man and berating the [censored] out of him for a good 15 minutes while his wife is in the cab of the truck having a heart attack.

Drive to the hospital at 70; avoid the ticket and the 15 extra minutes spent explaing to the cop when he pulls you over.

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly what I was thinking.

I'm really bad at math so I'm probably off here, but it looks like you'll save eight minutes doing 95 instead of 70.

As folks have already said, if you get pulled over you'll be stopped for 15 minutes.

But then again I've never been in your shoes and I expect when I get there I'll probably be doing 95.

Best of luck man, hope everything works out for the best.

Try some. They might chill you out a little. I wasn't saying it was ok to drive that fast or that I normally do just because I'm in a hurry or late. I was asking what the likelihood was of trouble under a certain specific situation. It's not selfish in that situation, it's normal, and I would hope that a cop would cut me a little slack.

I hadn't done the math on the amount of time it would save, but I will, and if it's only 8-10 minutes, I'll probably try to keep the speed down, but under those circumstances, I'm likely to exceed to posted limit whether I want to or not.

If you get pulled over and yr preg wife is in the car freaking out then yes you'll get off even going 95.

If its just you saying your wife is giving birth a traffic cop isn't going to give a [censored] if your flying at 95+ on the freeway

I think either you have a very, very, very important job, or your boss is a total douchebag for not letting you leave until the absolute minute she goes into labor. What gives?

[/ QUOTE ]

I wish it were more of the former and less of the latter, but unfortunately not. It's nice to be needed, but the place isn't going to catch on fire and explode if I weren't there, and it will be there when I get back.

Good points, though. The thing is, that I agree. I shouldn't be driving that fast, but I can't explain how tough it is to be that far away and to not be able to be there. It's going to be hell driving normal speeds knowing she's in pain or being wheeled into surgery without me there.

Don't worry I'm on them right now and I still think its completely insane to drive 95 on the freeway especially in a situation where you can't afford to be held for a long time or possibly arrested because of your likely belligerant attitude towards any cop that might stop you. Ask your wife what you should do, I hope she chooses the right decision. Now if your wife was in a car accident and was in critical condition and you were asked to rush to the hospital right away because she might not make it, then yeah go ahead speed away nobody will care but in this instance. I really think you should just think about how bad of an idea this is.

Why not just call 911 and get an ambulance?
High speed AND medical attention all in one.

If not that, can your doc consider inducing labor at a particularly convenient day/time?

I know nothing of these things (see title) so I'm interested in the possibilities...

Edit: Congratulations!
