Right, I guess what bugs me is the attitude that people are pretty much worthless if they haven't been abroad. They are so cultured and I'm some unwashed orge. Clearly I'm a little pissy.

Interesting things that have happened to me while in this country:

-I've been inside a prison (not as an inmate)
-Stood in a union hall when 1000+ workers voted to strike
-Spent time at a mosque in inner-city Philadelphia
-etc

The attitude that the United States is really boring and everywhere else is just amazing pisses me off. And I'm a liberal.

[ QUOTE ]
You know who I’m talking about. The kid who studies abroad for a semester and now thinks they could be a correspondent for the travel channel. They can’t stop talking about how good the beer was and won’t watch anything but foreign films. They rooted against the U.S. in the World Cup “on principal.” Despite having almost no grasp on international affairs, they feel free to spout-off about all kinds of complex political issues.

Please note I am not disparaging all people who have studied abroad or traveled. Just the annoying ones.

What is the most effective way to get these morons to shut up? I’m looking for good one-liners in particular.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think you mean liberals, rather than study abroad braggers.

Hogtie offender to the nearest door jamb and forcibly sterilize him/her with a rusty hacksaw. Do it, for the love of all that is good and holy.

Eh let's not get all political. Although they tend to be more liberal, only because conservative kids don't really study abroad much.

Nor do I.

Although I would love to see OP explaining Sup Bro and how it applies to their situation to the study abroad bragger.

"You see, you're just like Sup Bro, because you're bragging about something not particularly special that happened a while ago. Except you're not funny."

nah, NT is right, please ignore my advice.

One liner: "Interesting. By the way, I'm reporting you to Homeland Security as a possible terrorist."

Search for KKF's posts and then look for devastating one-liners about Thailand he gets. Adapt them to your own circumstances.
