I think this movie looks like trash. $55M, and they're working at Del Taco come Monday.

I don't think it looks that great either, although FWIW I found X3 to be enjoyable/entertaining and that was a really horrible movie. I'll feel compelled to see it though because it could have the biggest weekend ever, and this type of movie is really awesome in theaters. Plus Kevin Spacey is cool.

It's getting decent to good reviews and it's f'ing Superman. It will do very well, but the weekend sales will be affected by its Wednesday and Thursday sales. It easily makes over 100 million in the 5 day period, and I wouldn't be surprised if it got to 120 or so in the 5-day period.

meh, it won't beat spiderman. Though one of the most famous superheroes...I don't think superman was ever the most interesting or loved superhero.

I also don't feel that much hype surrounding it, not as much as some people are making it sound in this thread.

...If this was the 1st Superman movie ever then it would set all the records, but a lot of the older generations are looking at it as recycled crap, and while they will see it, it wont have that monster opener...

Exactly. We all identify with Peter Parker, not so much with Clark Kent.

$90M

don't discount the fact that it's 154 minutes long, which may translate into fewer screenings per day

I don't remember that much hype before Spiderman came out either, although I could be wrong.

I really don't understand why they remade it. With it already been a movie fairly recently, a TV series in the early 90s , a curent TV series, I feel like I have already seen it.

Side note: I heard that SM was killed off in the comic books?? What was the reason for that?
