Re: Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I heard someone hint at this in another post, so I thought I'd ask. You and villain have even stacks at X point in a SNG. You have KK villain has AA. Baring a K or A on the board, what percentage of the time are you going broke? [/ QUOTE ] Well I don't know if you have been watching the US poker championships on ESPN2 but there is a VERY VERY VERY good poker player at the table who's last name is Buffington. He is a complete poker god who wasn't able to get all of your money with AA vs KK, just look at how he dumped that 88 last night against that harvard business donkey. Anyway he sat next to me at the main event last year. About 3-4 hours in the table had been getting massacred by a couple of aggro players to our left so he and I instantly get the same idea of slowplaying to catch up with them. I looked down UTG and see KK and limp....and this guy overlimps with AA. I mean WTF!!! Flop comes down JJJ and I bet out, he calls everybody else folds. I figure he dont got me beat but I check, he checks...WTF!!! I bet river and he raises...I call and say "You got the Jack don't you?" He says, no, but I do have two aces....ESPN cameras everywhere...lots of oooos and ahhhhs when I show my KK. I only lost about 1/3rd my stack. So no, you don't always go broke with KK vs AA, but in something like a speed SNG it is very hard not too. Indy [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
You dont always have to go broke, but in online play and esp in STTs it si veryy hard not to. Against an unknown, I will never fold. If you 9+ table, you are almost never gonna really have the time/composure to find a fold (there are other areas you need to be concntrating on...not racking your brain whether KK is good on a Q hi flop). Assuming Im on the right track of the question you asked.

Re: Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
There's a big difference between AA v KK on a STT and in the ME. In the ME you are really deepstacked, and you can get away from the hand after the like 4327508274502745th raise. In a SNG, it might just be the 3rd raise that is the all-in so you don't have enough info to determine with enough certainty that he has AA and that's why you'll go broke (and you should).

Re: Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
No, not automatically , but yes you will.
The only way I could see getting away from it is if villian is just uber-tight or if there is so much action in front of you (raise, re-raise, all-in, overcall all-in, etc). Barring that, yes, you're broke. |

Re: Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
Only one thread that I have encountered so far made laying down KK the correct decision preflop (but its still very debateable)
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...page=&vc=1 - high buyin - solid/good opponent |
