Listen to the small stakers

The risk/expense of playing this post flop far outweighs the gain of the blinds IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]

I strongly disagree. I think you have to raise here. If I limp it's with the intention of shoving over a bb raise.

reads? anyway clear raise pf but flop if you 1/2 pot fold to the push otherwise just push

Just a slight read that they like to use their big stack more than most multi-tablers and slightly more aggressive overall.

When he came over the top I thought that about half the time I was ahead which made it an easy call.

At the time I thought his PF calling range was KK+, 22-66, A6-A10,K9+, Q9+,J9+, and connecters through 65. I don't think he would have any problem shoving QJ on that flop.

Also I think he would expect me to lay down stuff like AJ on the flop

i think calling preflop is easily the best option. on that flop i'd probably fire out a 2/3 pot bet and fold to his raise.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just to make a point about how bad a complete is if you expect him to raise at least 50% of the time and we're even EV when they don't raise.

Q. What range would he have to call with to make an open push worse?

Answer in an hour. (Or you guys can try to figure it out with SNGPT before then)

A voice of reason!

Open-completing in the sb is so bad. I do it 0% of the time.

OP's line is, as he says, superstandard and correct.

All very enlightening - sincerely.

As 1st of the 'hell no, don't raise' donks , please share with me if you will, the oober standard line here.

Please keep in mind that...

a) BB is a monster stack, and likes to use them
b) we hold 17bb's
c) we have a pair of 4's

What do you do when he pushes back PF? Are you getting the rest of your chips in at this stage of the game...as at least one other was actually hoping for?

What is your plan for most every single flop but this one, when we don't have an OESD (or a set)?

Thanks!

Honestly, this is completely standard for me.

Limping in preflop is dumb if you're going to fold unless you hit a set.

Raising and stealing the blinds is +EV.

Betting out on the flop and calling the massive overbet is +EV.

He pushes PF obv. fold.

Depends on the opp. If he is overaggro, depends on the board whether or not we bet or check.

Thanks, we're getting there

Honestly, I have NO problem with the standard blind vs. blind thing. I can envision favorable flops for a PF raised hand to continue on and so forth.

What gets me here is his stack, and OP's [since released] read.

How often does he not call PF? Guess?

I think shoving is a bit over the top, but I am quite sure it would be +EV against a reasonable bb. I am very much willing to go the felt with this hand; not going to be thrilled about it in every case, but I am fine with it. If I raise and he shoves I'm calling.

A lot of flops I'll c-bet.

Particularily favorable ones I'll check shove.
