Re: Just tested Stacked, and my god it sucks =(
Yeah, people jump to conclusions, etc., but if I do end up playing/buying this game, I'll tell you guys what I think of it. I'm not much of a NL/tourney player so it'll probably be a bunch of hot air from me.
The "training" aspect is good and all, but when it comes to video games there's a lot more to it than that. Don't forget the whole "fun factor" element. Video game companies want to sell copies of the game to a wider-than-niche market. |

[ QUOTE ] "Why the [censored] would I buy a game to play poker when I can just play on-line, at a casino, or in a home game?" [/ QUOTE ] Does this include programs such as Turbo Texas Hold'em and Poker Academy? I've found the Turbo programs to be very helpful practice due to their realistic AI. I haven't tried Poker Academy but I've heard good things about it. [/ QUOTE ] I've never used them but I consider these to be more of learning tools vs. just a game for R&R. I wouldn't object to using them. The AI on the WSOP game if a far cry from realistic human game play. Even at some of worst hold'em tables you've ever played at. |

I guess it could be moved to the software forum, if deac wanted to. Either way, I don't have too high expectations for the game (I try not to set myself up for disappointment. The online sites are always going to be best if what you want is to play poker.
So ANY poker video game needs to take a clue from Golden Tee golf and games like that. It needs to be arcade-like, not attempt to create a great poker AI. A game that focuses on becoming a successful pro gambler with poker as the centerpiece, or one that simulates the environment of the WSOP would be good. |

Re: Just tested Stacked, and my god it sucks =(
I can't understand why would you like to buy a bad poker video game when you can play better games online. If you want a sparring partner, get Poker Academy. It could be stronger, but still you can practice your moves with that, thinking as long as you want and playing against opponents that play like FL poker should be played (unlike people in small stake games).
I've tried only version 1.5 Pro but if 2.0 or 2.5 will be stronger I will be buying it. If not, it's still great sparring partner preparing for higher than small stakes (imo, just a fish myself, remember), even though it can be beated (and especially NL isn't strong at all). Comments wanted on version Pro 2.0 and 2.5 if they are stronger than Pro 1.5. |
