Quick update...the Eldorado game is $2 on the button, $3 and $5 blinds, $10 to go, no cap. Also any position can straddle by posting $10, and then it is $20 to go and straddler gets last action before the flop.

It's a pretty original structure...I'll give it that.

I played low-limit HE at Eldorado on Sat, May 13, and I think this may be the session that gets me away from playing live poker forever. I played the 3-6 Kill and the 4-8 Kill (and yes, I lost some money in the 4-8 Kill, but that's not the cause of my rant).

The 3-6 was fun, loose, and friendly...a great game, and the only reason I left was I was going to get dinner with my folks (who I'd taken up for Mother's Day). When I got back later Sat night, I got into the 4-8. It was also a great game, but some of the people in it were unpleasant, nitty, and borderline angle-shooty at 4-8!!!

- Older guy does the "grab a handful of chips and kind of tap the table" move to see if anyone else is checking. If they are, he bets.
- A guy has posted the big blind and when the action is on him, he grabs 4 more chips and places them next to the blind. The woman to his right insists it's a string raise because he didn't make a continuous motion. WTF? He'd posted!
- Same woman posts the big blind an orbit or two later and then takes the chips back when the flop comes down. The dealer calls her on it and she gets all pissy. She busts out and then gets a hold button for the seat until the free sandwiches show up.

The games are good, no question, but it's tough to get the bumps to smooth out when you're playing like 25 hands/hour. Good luck and try to have fun!

The place to be on May 12 at 2am was the 1/2 NL at the Peppermill. I am playing 4/8 and the new dealer is laughing
when she comes to our table and tells us how bad the play is on the NL. I chicken out going right away and wait until my game breaks. I am a limit player not NL. The NL is the only thing left so I take 78 of my 278 winnings and sit in for a try.

I start out slow but at about 4am I start hitting flops and 4 people are so drunk at the table they move all in to try to win the pot with NOTHING! All I have to do is call and I turned $78 into $1,280. I couldn't belive what was happening. Of course it came to an end at 9:30 am. I went card dead, was falling asleep at the table, and fresh people started coming into the game. I made 3 mistakes and dropped $270. That is why I don't play NL. So I took my measley $1,010 and went to bed. Can't wait until next week.

That reminds me, I guess there was a big player who allegedly had "briefcase full of money" playing at the Eldo NL game. There was a security guard (a small-ish woman) standing behind him the whole time. One of the dealers (also a woman) said, "Hell, I think I could take her..." That was about the pleasant-est, most entertaining thing that happened that night.

Hey guys,

Going to Reno in June for a golf vacation with a large group. We are staying at the Atlantis. I was wondering if anyone has played cards there, or anywhere else in Reno. What are the best rooms to play at? I mainly play 6max 100NL and 200NL online right now....but i've played limit previously. Any recommendations? If a casino other the Atlantis is best, what is it's proximity to the Atlantis?

Also restaurant recommendations would be appreciated.

Reno Hilton was a horrible cardroom, but they serve free milkshakes from the Johnny Rockets. Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla, repeat.
It's been 4 years so maybe they don't do it anymore.

Two of my favorite courses in town...along with Red Hawk.

Wolf Run can get tough when windy, but is a nice course with a good variety of holes, and some good risk/reward options.

Lakeridge is older, maybe not quite as good condition wise as WR and RH, but still nice...and it has the 16th, 220ish par 3 with a huge drop to an island green, maybe the best hole in town.

Enjoy! Let me know if you need anything more specific.

I love D'Andrea!!! Great course set up in the hills. Tough w/ local afternoon winds. Rosewood lakes is a cool, easy to walk, cheap, links style, public course. I think the rough there is pretty thick right now. Everything is a lateral water hazard. Greens aren't superfast or supersmooth, but they are consistent. Or go down to Carson and play Genoa Lakes (awesome!!!!!!), Sierra Neveada Golf Ranch(the name changed, not sure what it is). Dayton Valley is cool too (this is 20 minutes east of Carson).

Reno and Carson typically have afternoon winds. Try to play early.

Sierra Nevada was acquired by Genoa Lakes and is now the "Resort Course", so you can book through the Genoa Lakes site.

There are also some nice courses less than an hour northwest in the Blairsden/Graeagle area (we've played The Dragon and Plumas Pines, and plan on playing Whitehawk in the future).
