The scene of Zidane leaving the field passing by the trophy was one of the saddest scenes i have ever saw.

[/ QUOTE ]

It was hilarious because i) he is French and ii) It was 100% his own fault. If he had been taken off the field injured it would have been genuinely sad.

I don't feel positive about it. but look at the video above. the point of contact and the center of the body move straight down--not backwards. maybe he dropped from horrendous pain. I'd find that pretty surprizing. but nothing indicates that he was knocked backwards by the blow in the trajectory of his fall. straight down, and rotating.

watch his hips.

Zidane's career is far from over, he might not be playing any more caps for France but he's still gonna be making millions at Real Madrid...they paid $60+million for him so they're gonna make him play whether he headbutted some italian or not!

Did not find a video.
But De Wilde`s exit in Euro 2000 against Turkey was on a similar level.

Well I could not belive he did that. Amazingly stupid. With him still on the pitch France was dominating Italy at that point.

In Team sports I can think of any singular great athlete that went out for a more retarded play.
